Neighborhood

The Winter Park Highlands is an amazing community - about half of our of neighbors are full-time and about half are up on the weekends (most from Denver!). Lots of dog walking, nordic skiing and hikes down to the Fraser River (0.8 miles from our door). 5 minutes to the north is Snow Mountain Ranch (SMR) - one of two great nordic centers in the valley. 15 minutes southeast is Devils Thumb Ranch Resort & Spa - featuring another great nordic center as well as an equestrian and amateur horse-riding destination. And best of all, the best food in the valley (Tabernash Tavern) is just down the hill from us as is the best coffee (Simple Coffee).

Guest Access

You'll let yourself in and out with a key pad on the front door. We do use video for security reasons, so if you plan to have pets and/or more than the 8 person limit, please let us know ahead so we can avoid awkward conversations.

Good to know

Our master includes an en suite bath with double vanity, king tempurpedic bed and a private deck. Guest bedroom one has a king bed and work station and lofted guest bedroom two has a queen bed and desk work station. The two upstairs guest bedrooms share an oversized bathroom. The main-floor guest bedroom has a double bunk bed with a twin top and twin pull-out trundle bed and a full bath just outside the bedroom door. New (2022) washer and dryer are on the second floor near the guest bedrooms. The main floor is an open concept kitchen / dining / living room with vaulted 30' ceilings in the main room with the fireplace, 55” Smart TV and vinyl record set up. Our record collection is limited so bring some of your favorite tunes with you, or if you're more into wireless speakers, virtually plug into our Sonos system. Our chef's grade kitchen just got a big upgrade (2022) including a 5-panel induction cook top, induction oven and oversized refrigerator including a beer fridge for keeping the beverages ready to go. The custom-built floating shelves are adorn with a range of plants and objects collected from our travels to over 85 countries and we have a cabinet full of games to keep everyone engaged and having fun. The hot tub lists as a 6-person but we normally find 4 more spacious. It's original to the house and brings back the amazing 1980 vibes with a full wall mirror and full cedar paneled room. There is a sliding door which is great to leave open to see the stars. The sauna is off of the hot-tub room. The door is tight by design, so pull hard! The two-car garage which has a 220-v Tesla electric charger for quick charging and keeping your vehicle/s out of the snow. Extra awesome last note: we have great wifi for the mountains (best you will find) - we have Tesla‘s new Internet service, starlink. It’s amazing and the connection here is faster than our place in Denver !

Other Details to Note

There's no place to note that there is a 3-person sauna which is our favorite thing to do after a long day of skiing or even a short hike. If you partake in the hot tub, please shower first (see rules section!). We also can be pet friendly but given the additional cleaning required, we pass on the $100 pet cleaning fee. Also, please let us know if advance if you plan to travel with a pet as we will need to confirm that the additional deep clean is available on your dates. Last note: as with all mountain homes in this area, the chalet is on a well and septic system so we ask for both water consciousness and sensitivity around what is flushed. We have hired a 24 seven maintenance company to help with day-to-day response things, but in the case of any more significant repair or issue, availability and access up here is tight so response times can take a bit longer (just expectation setting - we don’t expect anything to go wrong and are very proactive with maintenance!).

Location

Sorry we're unable to show you the location for this property

Winter in the mountains is definitely winter, so the driveway and end of the road are snowy. The driveway is shoveled by a neighbor every 3" of snow so it's not going to bury you, but snow tires, ideally with all-wheel drive, are important in the winter. Summer the roads are great.
